Thimphu, Paro and Punakha Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Morining:
Guest pick up from Jaigaon or Phuentsholing. Our representative will process permit and complete immigration formalities before lunch.

After lunch we will take a 5 hour leisurely drive towards the Capital of Bhutan, Thimphu (Altitude 7,658 feet above sea level).
On arrival to Timphu, Check-in in the hotel. Tea, snacks and rest.
We suggest you to bring the basic tablets for headache and bowl moments caused by low temperature and altitude sickness.
Overnight Hotel at Thimphu.
Day 2
After breakfast
Visit to the famous Memorial Chorten
Build in memory of Third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (1928-72), it contains a fine collection of Buddhist statues and is a center of Tantric Buddhism.

Visit to Buddha Dordenma
It’s a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue build celebrating the 60th anniversary of fourth king Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The most visited site at Thimphu.

Visit to National Library and Choki School of Arts & Crafts
The only school besides Zorig Chusum (the Painting School) in the entire kingdom. Here, 30 students between the ages of 14 and 18 learn traditional drawing, painting, calligraphy, embroidery, wood carving, and sculpture. Art and painting play important roles in Bhutanese culture.

Afternoon
Visit to Changangkha Lhakhang
It is an old fortress like Temple and monastic school perched on a ridge above Thimphu. South east of Mothithang which was established in the 12 century.

Visit to Takin Zoo
To see the National animal of Bhutan `the Takin’. Takin is the national animal of Bhutan.

Overnight Hotel at Thimphu.
Day 3
After breakfast, head for the Punakha Valley, winter capital of Bhutan for three centuries.

Visit the Dochu La Monastery,
Our drive to the Punakha Valley ascends gradually to the Dochu La Pass, 10,300 feet above sea level. From here, get magnificent views of the Himalayan range.

Visit Punakha Dzong
The beautiful Bhutanese architecture armed by the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers, serving as the religious and administrative center of Bhutan until the mid 1950s.

Visit suspension bridge
Longest suspension bridge in Bhutan.

Day 4
After breakfast we drive to Paro, Lunch at Paro.
After Lunch
Visit to National Museum
Located in Paro Dzong’s 17th-century watchtower.
See a fine collection of old paintings and textiles, ancient weapons, and Bhutanese artifacts.

Visit to Paro Dzong
Also called Rinpung Dzong, the Fortress of a Heap of Jewels. Constructed in the early 15th century as a diminutive fort. This is without doubt one of the kingdom’s finest examples of traditional Bhutanese architecture.
Cross a nearby traditional wooden bridge called Nyamai-Zam, which spans the Paro River. In times of war, the bridge would be removed to protect the dzong from Bhutan’s enemies.

Day 5
Our day begins with an early breakfast, sustenance for a pony trek this morning to view one of Bhutan’s most revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites, Taktshang Lhakhang, locally known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery (altitude: 10,433 feet).
We stop at the Cafeteria, about halfway to the monastery, for wonderful views and for tea & snacks.
On our return, we again stop at the Cafeteria, this time for lunch.
After some rest time, descend to Ramthanka base and drive back to the hotel.
Overnight Hotel at Paro.
Day 6
After breakfast, we head back to Phuntsholing from Paro.
Lunch on the way to Phuntsholing.
Drop to Jaigaon, West Bengal and Bid farewell.

  • Bhutan Tour Booking terms & Conditions and Bhutan Tour Cost Refund Policy
  • To confirm your Bhutan trip booking, full tour payment has to be made prior to your arrival in Bhutan. In the event of Bhutan tour booked and subsequently cancelled by you, your full tour cost will be refunded to you after deducting the following scale of charges depending on when the notification of your tour cancellation is received:
  • If notification of your tour cancellation is received more than 30 days before your arrival in Bhutan, there shall be no cancellation charges.
  • If notification of your tour cancellation is received less than 30 days but more than 15 days before your arrival in Bhutan, 20% of your Bhutan tour cost shall be deducted as cancellation charges.
  • No refund will be provided if notification of your tour cancellation is received less than 15 days.

IMPORTANT NOTE

  • Entry Permit
  • For all the travelers it is necessary to carry original Voter ID or Passport to travel to Bhutan.
  • In case of child (below 12 years) it is required to carry Original Birth Certificate.
  • To get the entry permit we need to submit 2 copies of passport size photograph, clear scanned copies of the voter ID card or Passport for adults and for Kids the copy of Birth Certificate. It is mandatory to carry the same.
  • Route Permit
  • It is required for those travelling to restricted areas beyond Dochula pass. The Route Permit is processed & issued in Thimphu only after arrival in Bhutan and on production of the Entry Permit.
  • Both entry and route permit can be processed only during working days (Mon-Fri) and applications are accepted from 9am - 4pm.

Document required to enter in Bhutan are

  • Voter id card or Passport
  • Passport size photograph (3-4 nos.)
  • Health card and student id for children not having passport/voter card
